Comments Secret sauce @ Mexican restaurant

The 1st Korean franchise of a popular Mexican restaurant chain La Salsa Loca opened in Yeouido a few months ago.   It's not Taco Bell. In fact, it is the anti-Taco Bell: the tortillas and sauces are made daily from scratch and there is always something natural cooking in the open kitchen.

Every ingredient is guaranteed not to come from a can or a squirt tube.   La Salsa Loca serves up casual, healthy Mexican cuisine using only all-natural ingredients.   No animal fat, artificial colors, MSG, preservatives, or microwaves are in sight.   All the fresh vegetables - like the avocados for the guacamole and mangos for the fat-free house dressing- are proudly displayed in a large, glass-door refrigerator.   La Salsa Loca even has its own farm, which is claimed to be the only place in Korea that grows jalapeno peppers and tomatillos, little golf ball-size green tomatoes used to make a mild, tangy green salsa.

La Salsa Loca first opened in California in 1979 and became a popular restaurant chain of "tacquerias" or neighborhood taco bars.   The restaurant is all bright light and pastel colors.   The decorative touches are minimal but telling: One wall features a mural of desert flora and another is covered with large, colorful pincushions in the shape of vegetables.

Located in the heart of the business district in Yeouido, La Salsa Loca is great for bottles of Coronas or Negro Modelos over a plate of nachos after work.   The margaritas here, of course, are made with fresh-squeezed limes.

Take subway line 5, get off at Yeouido station, take exit 4, walk straight for 200m and turn left at the 1st traffic light (you'll see KB *b bank).   Walk another 50m and the restaurant is on your right on the ground level.   Or refer to   http://lasalsaloca.co.kr/03-location.asp   .
