Albert Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, to middle-class Jewish parents in Ulm, Germany. He disliked school as the mindless drilling that prevailed.

He graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Zurich, Switzerland. He was awarded the novel prize for his theory of the Photoelectric Effect in 1921.

He bore his long last illness with great stoicism, and died peacefully on April 18, 1955 at the age of 76.
