Up to 1960's Korea was a traditional agricultural society. But since then with the rapid economic growth it changed to a industrial society. From 1980 new media such as computers have spread rapidly and is already showing the characteristics of the industry for a second half.

The number of people who are engaged to industry second half has increased and with the rapid urbanization, problems such as concerning housing, transportation, environment etc are occurring. But to solve these problems the government has constructing subways in large cities and built large apartment housing areas.

Also the government is providing supplementary living allowances for the poor and elderly so that they can live at least a minimum life. They introduced employment insurance, pension insurance for the unemployment problem and insurance service for old ages(daily life security). They also introduced medical insurance and national pension system since last year. As a result the national solidarity for the neglected people.
