The Freaks Come Out at Night- Where Korea's underground comes up for air

The ambiance around university of Hong-ik, called 'front Hong-dae' changes twice a day. Its atmosphere is quiet and it's similar to other university street in a day.
But, when neon light flashed at night, the ambiance changes quite differently.When the young hanging guitar on their shoulder come together on the street of Picasso, the mood in this whole region changes from quietness into fever. As for the characteristics of the street, called the source of underground culture, there are wall painting decoration painted by the students of university of Hong-ik, faculty of fine arts, and more than 10 clubs.
The term 'club' used in this street, means a place where group performing live music of punk and techno play. 70 groups of underground rock music, called Indie is active in the whole area of 'Front Hong-ik'. Spectators are fascinated with the loud music and protesting message played by that group, that one can not see in regular TV program.
Recently, the University Hong-ik is inseparable from the activity of punk, or that of techno. Besides, there are fine arts institution having a time honoured tradition, founded in order to direct personally people for the admission to the University of Hong-ik. And there are also, a room for emotional comic picture, stores selling Ramyeon cooked, in the lane of the street.
In other side of lane, there are a lot of Europe style of cafes between Geukdong broadcasting station and University of Hong-ik. Recently, specialists being occupied in advertisement, movie, broadcast, photograph, music move into, one after another, the building on the street. So, it is going to become professional street.
Anyway, it is certain that when night falls, the street of 'Front University of Hong-ik' changes into very special street of arts.
