It was formerly believed that this statuette belonged to a sculpture in the church of Saint Michel in Dijon. However, it is more likely that it should be identified with the small model of a statue placed at the top of an altarpiece sculpted by Jean Dubois for the church of Alluy (Ni?re), known by a signed drawing.
