Namsan-gol Traditional Korean Village

The Namsan-gol Traditional Korean Village with traditional garden, a pavilion, and 5 buildings that have been moved or restored, opened in 1988. The traditional garden that is a green space in the city has a multipurpose garden, pond and resting square. You can also feel the atmosphere of Mt. Namsan with pine trees, zelkova trees and weeping willows.
Where you can see the Korean Housing Culture
From the 23 traditional houses the 5 houses that are not changed have been chosen and moved. From these, the only house that has been restored is the one that was so old and was almost impossible to move, while the others have been restored in part. In the buildings are necessities and furniture according to the class and the size of the house so that you can see how our ancestors lived at once.

Place where you can experience the Traditional Culture
The Namsan-gol Korean style house town is not only a place that displays traditional house but also a place where you can buy traditional craft work and experience the traditional culture as well.

In the houses you can see and learn Korean calligraphy, Korean classical music, and embroidery to name only a few. Every Saturday afternoon there is a Korean traditional wedding ceremony, and at "Dasaheon" tea and snacks are sold. In the craft exhibition hall folk paintings, needlework, and lacquer work inlaid with mother-of-pearl are displayed and sold. In the multipurpose garden you can see the traditional mask dance, Cheoyongmu (dance to drive out evil spirits), a Buddhist dance, and enjoy traditional games such as swinging, and putting the arrow into the bottle.

There is a time capsule on the southern corner of the garden, which was buried in 1994 celebrating the 600th anniversary of Seoul. The time capsule, which will be opened up in 2394 for our descendents, contains 600 products that represent Seoul.
