Gyeongbokgung Palace

The king Taejo built it when he relocated the capital to Seoul, as he changed dynasty.
The palace was the hub of royal power and the royal residence for 200 years. Before the Japanese Hideyoshi invasion, the grounds housed some 500 buildings. The palace buildings destroyed during Japanese onslaught of 1592.
The palace was reconstructed during the reign of King Gojong (1864 ~ 1907). Some 200 buildings had been completed in 1872. But these was destructed during the Japanese occupation(1910 ~ 45) and the Korea War.
Yet another resulted in wholesale destruction – only 10 buildings at Gyeongbokgung survived these disasters.
The Koreans government scheduled to restore the entire complex. This major reconstruction effort started in 1995 and is scheduled for completion in the year 2020.
