The Three kingdoms period

The first Korean kingdom is Goguryeo, the 3rd centry AD two powerful kingdoms Silla and Baekje had emerged to dominate the south.
The Three kingdoms period (Goguryeo, Baekje and Shilla) remarked flowering arts, architecture, literature and statecraft. Chinese influences were accepted, reinterpreted and alloyed with traditional Korean beliefs.
Probably the single most formative influence was Buddhism, which became the state religion of all three kingdoms.
