King Sejong Memorial Hall |
This hall was built to remember King Sejong, the fourth King of the Joseon Dynasty(1418-1450), who invented 'Hangeul' in 1443. |

In this memorial hall, King Sejong's contribution to his country is divided into 4 sections; Hangeul hall, science hall, King Sejong's biography hall, and Korean traditional music hall.
In the biography hall, the King's 32 years of ruling are depicted in 14 Korean paintings.
Also, the invention of 'Hunminjeongeum'(Korean characters which were made by King Sejong with help from his scholars in 1443) and its related international and domestic books printed in 'Takbon'(a paper copy of letters carved in tombstone or roofing tile) are here in the Hangeul hall.
Also, there are the remains of the character printings, udometer, sundial, guns, inventions, and Korean medicine in the science hall.
In the Korean traditional music hall, 70 sorts of Korean instruments and clothes of musicians and dancers are displayed.
Admission fee Student 1,000 won, adult 1,500 won
a group of 50 or more - student 800 won, adult 1,200 won
Opening hour 09:00 ~ 17:00 (Closed on Mondays)
