Museum of Korean Embroidery

At the Korean Embroidery Museum you can see all of Korea¡¯s embroidery culture. There are over 200 pieces of embroidery work that have been chosen from the 2,400 pieces collected by cultural asset collectors. Most of them are clothes, folding screens and kerchiefs.
Many tourists may think that embroidery is something that is only used in expensive goods, but Korean embroidery is on many everyday goods and people who are not familiar with embroidery will see it everyday once they start looking. From the bags that have been made from pieces of cloth you can see how Korean women are able to save and make beautiful items from scraps.

The geometrical patterns and color of the Korean kerchiefs are internationally famous.Koreans have been using shapes, colors, and compositions long before geometrical abstractions were popular elsewhere. You can see Jasusagae bunkyoendo from BC13~14 which is the oldest existing embroidered folding screen (no.653 treasure), Sugasa (no. 654 treasure) which is an embroidered monk's robe and three folk materials.
