Place of Korean Folk Music Performance

There is a permanent stage for Korean Folk Music Performance inside of the National (Classical) Music Institute. If you want to listen the charm of korean music, you can enjoy it on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, when ever it is convenient to you. These performances are traditional and provides a lot of new instruments which are interesting and creative.
Tuesday Performance - Breathing space of artistic spirit

Tuesday performances are mainly on instrumental music, vocal music and dancing which are all important intangible cultural asset. This show provides the chance for artists to present their talent on the stage, in same time sponsors the improvemet of   Korean traditional art which began on September, 1979. This spectacle produces large number of potential performers. Also contributes interest and recognition about the importance of intangible cultural asset.

Thursday Performance - New year's Birdcall, Bird gesture

The performance opens in the national music institute, Umeondang. One of the program, Thursday's open space for youngsters, is mainly for development of Korean music in future. This event offers individual presentation contest mainly in creativeness and activeness. Many talented young musicians are performing in this contest.

Saturday Performance - Eternal Korean Music and Dance

Permanent Korean classical music is performed every Saturday afternoon. All of the generation through teenager to adult and foreigner are welcome. Royal court music, dancing, folk music, folk song, creative traditional Korean song and many more are played. About 100 kinds of different genres music are summarized into twelve different form of program and are orderly performed.

Various contents are presented about its outstanding quality and uniqueness in Korean national music institute. Saturday permanent traditional performance began in 1986 and guided permanent performance generation.
